San Juan Island Distillery
is a small artisan business on San Juan Island, Washington. We also own Westcott Bay Cider, an established and prize-winning cider works. We have a craft distillery license to make gins and apple brandy from our cider.
We call our gin "spy hop" because orca whales are so connected to the San Juan Islands. They are here from May through October and most visitors to the island get a chance to see an orca do a "spy hop," which is a vertical jump part way out of the water to look around.
Our tasting room will be open Saturday April 28th and Saturday, May 5th from 3 to 5 pm. After that, we will not be open again until Memorial Day Weekend. Call if you'd like a private tour: 360 472-1532 or 360 378-2606.
Medals
Our Apple Eau de Vie took gold at the 2011 Great Lakes International Cider and Perry competition, the world's second-largest cider competition, where Westcott Bay's three hard ciders won two silvers and a bronze. Our Apple Eau de Vie also won bronze at the 2011 American Distilling Institute competition.
Follow our seasons:
Follow us on our facebook page or you can also follow us on our Westcott Bay Cider facebook page as we harvest apples and make cider in the fall, and bottle the cider in the spring and summer. We distill year around, but mostly in the winter!
Every season, some of our apple eau de vie goes into oak barrels for aging into Calvados-like Apple Brandy, and some will be sold separately for those who love the fresh taste of fine cider apples in a digestif.
